Vinification :
Portrait an introduction to wine As with all the arts, wine tasting requires a certain initiation period before one can learn all its secrets. It can at the same time be practised with the simplest of wines. The Portrait range is an invitation to the uninitiated to discover the special aromas of each of the seven Alsatian grape varieties, to taste well-balanced wines whose characters, while straightforward, vary from one another with differing shades of subtleties. Its resolutely modern image also makes for easy tasting: bottled entirely with screw cap closures, sleek and spare packaging, a different label portraying each grape variety... Connoisseurs, too, will delight in brightening up the humdrum with these young, light, fruity wines. Aspect :: east, southeast Altitude :: between 190 and 350 m Soil :: Silty

Tasting comments par Manuel Peyrondet - Best Sommelier of France, 2008 MY THOUGHTS With this basic Riesling, the Zinck winery shows us its style: dry Rieslings, racy and direct, with the added advantage of freshness. This is a remarkable Riesling for its range, and I’m impatient to taste the grands crus! This Riesling is not for everyone; the wine’s natural austerity is not always understood.
Dégustation :
TO SERVE WITH... At a meal, it would be marvelous with shellfish or other saltwater delicacies, and fresh goat cheese. • Bass with oyster tartar • Carpaccio of langoustine, with a lemongrass and ginger marinade • Goat cheese terrine with Menton lemons Serve at 9° C, decanted to a carafe. Cellaring: 5-7 years
Oeil :
COLOR The wine is a brilliant, pale golden-yellow with hints of green.
Nez :
NOSE The nose is wide open, clear and precise. We can almost sense the austerity of the varietal before breathing; we expect to find a dry, uncompromising Riesling. It opens on flinty mineral notes accompanied by a nuance of lemon zest. After breathing, the aroma intensifies and we find lemongrass and elderberries. The minerality amplifies slowly but surely, as the wine breathes.
Bouche :
TASTE No surprise for the palate, this Riesling is quite dry, immediately revealing its nature. The taste evolves thanks to the wine’s fresh briskness, which gives it raciness and character. The finish, fresh and flavorful, lacks in persistency but opens the taste buds remarkably. PAI 3-4 caudalies
